Defying Gravity

Step 1: Take a picture of yourself in the gravity defying-pose you're looking for. It's a good idea to use the same location and light as the image you're aiming to paste yourself into. If you're pasting yourself into an image you're downloading online (check usage rights first!) do your best to match the lighting in that scene. If necessary, consider having a friend hold some poster board behind your head so separating your hair from the background is easier.

Step 2: Take a pic of the location in which you'll be defying gravity. Pro tip: It'll be more interesting if you include other people and create an element of interaction with them.
Step 3 (below): Slice yourself out of the source image. Make a selection with the magnetic lasso tool. Refine/adjust as needed. Command-J to paste selection into new layer. Consider adding various effects in their own layers. I used a white soft-edged brush and a lens flare effect (Filter>Render>Lens Flare) to add a flash of light for more... uh... majesty.
Step 4: Profit.
I flattened my layers, made everything black and white, and cropped.
When people see your picture and ask how you did it, tell them it was a lot of work, but disavow any knowledge of the existence of Photoshop; rather, maintain eye contact and be like "I had eat six crows beaks and cast a Level-IV Levitation Spell."
If you keep a straight face, they might think you're a witch and you can use their fear of witches to derive authority over them.
You’re welcome.
