The Visual Arts Departments at Glacier and Flathead High Schools are hoping to build a network of teachers interested in arts integration at the partner elementary levels.
This network will be of interest to teachers who would like to integrate the Visual & Media Arts across curricular subjects in order to improve retention, student engagement, learner motivation, and personal relevancy to school.
Studies show that the visual arts increase visual intelligence (perception), design skills, spatial reasoning, and creative problem solving. They also make learning interactive, project based, and fun!
This is where you come in. Can you please forward this information to your staff, or at the very least, the teachers most interested in learning to integrate the Visual & Media Arts?
We will be offering professional development in arts integration, methods for teaching the "Elements of Art" and "Principles of Design" and other classroom resources (such as lesson plans, research, & valuable links). These instructional ideas will enhance current content curriculum and are not intended to compete for valuable classroom time.
Interested teachers can contact Josh Lancaster to RSVP for a dinner together at the Glacier HS Art Dept. on February 8th from 6-9 pm.
This dinner and dialogue will also be offered for PIR/OPI hours at https://kalnet.io-solutions.com/pir/.
